About ACDPN
The ACDPN promotes the well-being and advancement of Black communities in Montreal through culturally responsive programming and capacity-building initiatives.
Community Context
English-speaking Black communities in Quebec face multiple barriers to employment, including systemic discrimination, fewer opportunities to engage with professional networks, and challenges navigating labour market systems.
Many young Black jobseekers, often first-generation postsecondary students, lack access to mentorship, career guidance, and early work opportunities. Employment support services are often fragmented, making it difficult for individuals to receive consistent, long-term guidance.
COF-Supported Project
Through COF support, ACDPN is delivering Connected Pathways: Adapted Employment Support for the English-speaking Black Community, an initiative for Black English-speaking youth and adults aged 17 to 45.
The project features:
- Group-based job readiness workshops
- Individual employment counselling and skills assessment
- CV/cover letter development and interview preparation
Services are tailored to different participating groups and emphasize consistent, relationship-based support, while also providing networking opportunities and coordinated referrals to complementary services.
