Apathy Is Boring

About About Apathy Is Boring

Apathy Is Boring is a Montreal-based, non-partisan charity that helps young people take part in civic life. Through its RISE and BUILD programs, youth gain experience in community projects, public speaking, advocacy, teamwork, and project management.

Community Context

English-speaking youth in Quebec often struggle to translate their education, interests, volunteer experience, and community involvement into meaningful careers. Without accessible opportunities to build skills, confidence, and professional connections, many young people risk becoming underemployed, disconnected from their communities, or leaving Quebec in search of better opportunities.

COF-Supported Project

Engage and Employ adapts Apathy Is Boring’s youth-led approach into employment programming for English-speaking youth aged 15 to 30 in Montreal, Sherbrooke, the Eastern Townships, and Valcartier.

The project features:

  • Workshops on résumés, cover letters, interviews, and job-search strategies
  • Small-group sessions on transferable skills and employment goals
  • Youth-led civic projects that develop teamwork, leadership, and professional communication
  • Showcase events where participants present their work to community partners and potential employers

Through Engage and Employ, English-speaking youth gain practical experience, stronger professional networks, and greater confidence to pursue employment opportunities.
