About ARC
Through a network of strong local partnerships, ARC assists South Shore English speakers of all ages in accessing health and social services, information, and community resources. It also delivers youth employment services.
Community Context
English-speaking residents of the area routinely experience difficulty finding employment opportunities aligned with their skills and education level.
Many are concentrated in lower-wage or less stable sectors, with high-growth fields like healthcare and manufacturing harder to break into due to language requirements and appropriate training pathways.
COF-Supported Project
ARC is tackling these issues with its COF-supported Employment Service Support in the Montérégie-Centre program, featuring job-readiness workshops, personalized needs assessments, one-on-one coaching sessions, and employer engagement.
Workshops focus on:
- Resume and interview preparation
- Job search strategies
- Digital literacy
- Career exploration in high-demand sectors
Its partnerships with CEGEPs, adult education centres, regional employment services, and community organizations create a strong network for referrals and mapping English-accessible certification and upskilling pathways.
Meanwhile, the program engages employers to identify bilingual positions and to promote inclusive hiring.
