About CDNBCA
The CDNBCA has long supported Montreal’s English-speaking Black community through programming focused on youth development, health, and economic empowerment.
Community Context
English-speaking Black Quebecers experience higher unemployment and lower incomes than their Francophone counterparts, reflecting persistent, disproportionate barriers to workforce participation.
Despite labour shortages across the province, many community members face challenges related to language, discrimination, and limited access to professional networks. Employment services often fail to reflect the linguistic and socio-economic realities of this community, contributing to underemployment and reduced economic mobility.
COF-Supported Project
CDNBA is implementing UIBE2 Hub, a coordinated employment support model serving English-speaking Black communities and other equity-deserving groups.
The project features:
- Personalized career counselling and employment coaching
- Skills development workshops for in-demand sectors
- Job matching, mentorship, and employer connections
The initiative also incorporates wraparound supports, including referrals for childcare, food security, and financial literacy, to address other factors affecting employability.
