O3 (On Our Own)

About O3

O3 is a Montreal-based nonprofit providing subsidized transitional housing and onsite programs to young, vulnerable parents and their children. Its services include parenting support, financial literacy, and mental health programming within a stable residential environment.

Community Context

Its residents are young parents facing multiple employment barriers.

Many lack a high school diploma, have low literacy, and carry histories of trauma. Most are racialized and have experienced discrimination. All have young children, and most are single parents with complex schedules and limited support systems.

COF-Supported Project

O3's Increase Employment Support for Young Parents program uses COF support to offer:

  • One-on-one career counselling
  • Individualized plans
  • Literacy supports
  • Development of employability skills such as CV writing, interview preparation, and job-bank navigation

Services are delivered by a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive staff that builds on a client's strengths.

In addition, a career fair and workshop series address pathways to finishing high school and entering vocational and college programs, helping parents work toward long-term stability.
