English-language community newspapers across Quebec face ongoing recruitment challenges, particularly in attracting early-career journalists and candidates from outside major urban centres. 

Meanwhile, English-speaking jobseekers interested in journalism may have limited awareness of career opportunities in community media.

COF-Supported Project

QCNA is producing Your Career in Community Media, a targeted job fair and networking event connecting English-speaking jobseekers with community media employers.

The project features:

• Direct interaction with editors, publishers, and media organizations
• Networking opportunities and informal interviews with participating employers
• Information session on journalism careers, industry pathways, and transferable skills

Held alongside QCNA’s annual gathering, the event brings together employers from multiple regions of Quebec, creating a clear entry point into community journalism.
