VGPN (Vision Gaspé-Percé Now)

About VGPN

VGPN's mission is to improve the quality of life for English-speaking residents of the Gaspé Coast by enhancing access to services and creating strong community connections.

Community Context

In its area (MRC La Côte-de-Gaspé and eastern MRC Rocher-Percé from Prével to Corner of the Beach), employment assistance services accessible to OLMCs are scarce, and qualified counsellors are nearly non-existent.

Many services operate mainly in French and cannot serve newcomers without permanent residency.

Unemployment among local OLMCs is above regional averages, with many individuals having only secondary education and part-time work on their resumes.

COF-Supported Project

With COF support, Empower Gaspé – Employment Counselling & Community Research for Anglophone Job Seekers establishes localized English-language guidance counselling and employment support.

The program features:

  • One-on-one counselling
  • Workshops on resumes, interviews, and workplace communication
  • Personalized employability support
  • Coordinated referrals with regional partners

It is delivered through a hybrid model (in-person, outreach to villages, and online) to ensure accessibility.
